VISION | HISTORY

Bach's music is timeless and continues to fill halls and move audiences today.

Many large ensembles with resounding names devote themselves extensively to performing it. However, as a beginning musician it is not easy to build up the much-needed expertise in performing early music, which is why the majority of professional performances can be reduced to a handful of seasoned performers.

The artists at FLANDERS BACH-CONSORT all share the same DNA: young, ambitious and eager to learn. Some experience performing baroque music, with ensembles such as Il Gardellino, Ricercar Consort, La Petite Bande, MA Academy, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra,

Continuum ensemble, Gli Angeli Genève, Cappella Mediterranea, B'rock Orchestra and Collegium Vocale Gent Academy.

This always under the watchful eye of Leonardo García Alarcón, Marcel Ponseele, Peter Van Heyghen, Marcus Creed, Sigiswald Kuijken,

Bertrand Cuiller, Ton Koopman, Stephan Macleod and Philippe Herreweghe. Some of us were also heard on, among others.

Cydonnia Barocca festival, Radio Klara, Midsummer Mozartiade, MA festival Bruggen, Osterfestspiele Salzburg and on stages such as

Flagey, Bozar, Concertgebouw Brugge, MIRY Concert Hall Ghent, AMUZ, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and

Teatro alla Scala (Milan)

At FB-C we want to create an open workspace where cross-pollination between instrumentalists and singers - experienced and less experienced -

the standard. It is our philosophy to bring together the experiences already gained in our own story/sound/interpretation.

Where we evolve from the input of each individual towards coherent performances of the music of Bach and his contemporaries and where we remain ever aware of our ultimate goal:

to move the audience with music that has been around for ages, where a new generation puts their shoulders to the wheel.

HISTORY

Founded in 2022 under the name of "das neue Bach-Konsortium", Flanders Bach-Consort is a dynamic ensemble of young, passionate musicians. They aim to revitalise the music of Bach and his contemporaries. By joining forces of both experienced and less experienced instrumentalists and singers, FB-C creates a unique and inspiring environment.

An open and inclusive approach

What distinguishes Flanders Bach-Consort is its commitment to collective interpretation. This includes the individual contribution of each member. This open and inclusive approach stimulates creativity and leads to surprising and innovative performances.

Anchored in tradition, with a modern outlook

Although FB-C focuses on the music of Bach and his contemporaries, the ensemble approaches this music with a fresh and contemporary perspective. By bringing together the members' acquired knowledge and experience, FB-C develops its own recognisable sound.

Touching the audience

FB-C's ultimate goal is to move audiences with timeless music. By presenting baroque music in an accessible and relevant way,

the ensemble aims to appeal to a new generation of music lovers and let them experience how contemporary this music still is.
